Police said on Friday they were investigating possible human remains found near Brooklyn Bridge Park — just steps from where human bones were discovered on at least two separate occasions in August.
NYPD officials said the latest remains could potentially be from a pelvic bone. They were spotted around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday near 45 Water St., close to Jane’s Carousel and other popular attractions on the East River waterfront.
Police said it was unclear who initially made the discovery.
The remains were sent to the city medical examiner’s office, which will work to determine the origins of the remains and whether they could be related to a skull and other bones discovered in the area over the summer, according to the NYPD.
This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
